Bible Verses Related to Jesus's Claims of Being God, Coming Down from Heaven, and Being the Messiah from the Book of John (KJV)* 1:1,14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 20:31 but these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
4:26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
5:19-29 19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. 21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23 that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. 25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. 26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; 27 and hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
6:33,38,50,51,58,62 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
7:29,37 29 But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
8:12,14,18,19,23,58 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. 14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. 18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. 19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. 23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
9:6,7,37 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. 37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
10:30 I and my Father are one.
11:42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
14:6,7,9-11 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
17:3,5,8,11,13,18,21,22,24,25 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. 11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. 13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 21 that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
*Given that the Book of John1 was written after the Book of Revelation2, and considering John's age at the time of writing, he possessed a profound theological understanding of Jesus's divine nature. For instance, in Revelation 22:13, Jesus declares, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. This profound understanding allowed John to reflect on Jesus repeatedly and emphasize His divine nature throughout his writings (John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.).
1The Gospel of John was completed around AD 90-110, although it contains signs of origins dating back to AD 70 and possibly even earlier - Gospel of John (Wikipedia). 2The Book of Revelation was likely written during the reign of the Roman emperor Domitian (AD 81-96) - Book of Revelation (Wikipedia).
